The flying dragon is a Japanese symbol of wisdom and knowledge, and is
known to rise from the troubled waters of life to the heavens from the
knowledge and wisdom that an individual has gained. Thus the same as a
student should in Isshin-Ryu
Karate.
The dragon is also the symbol of Master Tatsuo Shimabuku, as the name
Tatsuo means "Dragon Boy".
